Working from home can be extremely rewarding if it is done correctly. Having the ability to dress as you wish, take breaks as you wish, and spend more time with the ones you love is what drives the desire to work from home. However, each of these things can create pitfalls.

In order to successful work from home, there will need to be some boundaries established. Ideally, you will want to have a designated work area, as well as set work hours. If your children will be home with you, they will need to know that there are certain times when you must not be disturbed.

Though you do have flexibility, allowing yourself too much down time will be counterproductive. For example, you can have lunch whenever you wish, but if you choose to allow yourself two hours for lunch instead of one, this could be a problem.

Once a routine and some ground rules have been established, you should have no problem working from home. Watch out for problems, and make corrections as soon as possible. This is the best way to keep things running smoothly. Over time, you will find that the time you spend working from home is highly productive.
